A huge thanks is owed to our youth consultant, Innes Morgan, who this year took a step back from Scottish Rural Action. Innes started working with the organisation when he was 16 in 2021 , and so has forever held the title 'youngest member of staff!'
Over several years, Innes has supported SRA to deepen its connections to youth networks, advising us on a range of issues from his experiences and perspectives deeply embedded in rural and island places. Growing up in Dunnet in Caithness, with a wealth of knowledge in youth participation, and a keen interest in politics, local economies, and rural development, Innes has been an outstanding member of the organisation and we are incredibly grateful for all he has contributed.
He played a key role in organising the inaugural Scottish Rural and Islands Youth Parliament in November 2023, but had a considerable role in developing connections leading up to the event, in addition to providing contributions during a gathering in Edinburgh in January 2024 when rural and island youth met with the First Minister, the Permanent Secretary, and the Cabinet. He is forever asking brilliant questions and pairs strategic thinking with locally-rooted perspectives.
Innes has a whole range of very exciting ideas and career prospects, and we wish him all the very best in his future endeavours!
